There are certain venues around the country that every videographer and photographer really want to shoot at, Kilshane House is without doubt always high up on that list. The second you pull up to the house you can see why. It’s pretty magical.
So it’s safe to say the morning of the wedding I was pretty pumped to be starting work. All of my excitement for shooting in Kilshane for the first time, was equally matched if not exceeded, by my excitement for meeting Shira and Paul. From our first emails, right through to our calls just before the wedding, and all the mayhem of postponement in between, Shira and Paul were amazing, and I knew a long way out that this was going to be a really special day to be apart of.
The day itself could not have been more chilled. The couple both got ready in the house, just across the corridor from each other. Half the wedding having travelled over from the states meant that there was a great buzz and excitement all morning in the house. Their ceremony took place in the conservatory of Kilshane, probably one of the coolest spaces in any wedding venue in the country, and was beautiful in every way that a wedding ceremony should be. What started out as a stormy overcast morning cleared, and Shira and Paul and their guest spent the afternoon having their drinks reception outside. Dinner, speeches and dancing followed, the latter always great fun to capture when there are Americans involved (they are always the best dancers.)
Overall, just about as perfect a day as you could hope to shoot as a wedding videographer. A massive thanks to Shira and Paul for having me to be part of their day and to the wonderful Kilshane House, I can’t wait to get back again soon.
